Anamika Khanna is a fashion designer who was born and brought up in Kolkata. She is one of the few designers whose motives lie in their originality and dreams. In the era of modernity, where people are interested in wearing suits and pants, Anamika’s inclined towards bringing tradition into light. She is focused on moulding traditional outfits into modern patterns, which is going to secure her a spot in the top 500 list of Business of Fashion. The Dhoti pants are one of the best examples of her creations. By showcasing her work at Parish Fashion Week, Anamika became the first Indian woman to do so. Her inclination towards innovation made her unique and her work attractive. Apart from designing, Anamika likes to spend her time on painting and classical dancing. “Ana Mika” is her international label.
Anamika Khanna’s designing career started in 1998. Her first big achievement was achieved in 2003, when she was invited to showcase her bridal collection in Pakistan and became a part of Bridal Asia. In 2004, Anamika established her first international label. She participated in Lakme Fashion Week as well. The Boutanist, one of her collections, was showcased at Will’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer edition and at London Fashion Week as well in 2005. In 2007, Anamika got to display her work at Paris Fashion Week along with fashion designer Manish Arora. The journey of her designing career also includes HDIL India Couture, where Anamika got the chance to showcase her signature designs “cowl-dresses and dhotis, which were inspired by Mahatma Gandhi”. Anamika was the final designer at the Lakme Fashion Week Fall/Winter Edition event.
In addition to her achievements, Anamika participated in the Indian Premier London Fashion Week’s Autumn/Winter Collection. In 2011, Anamika got a chance to showcase her creativity at Lakme Summer Resort. Her popularity increased with each year, and she enhanced her designing skills. In 2012, Anamika showcased her signature design of dhoti-pants along with saree drapes and floor-length jackets. At PCJ Delhi Couture, Anamika showcased her collections of shararas, capes, gilets, vests, and coats in colour combinations of black, white, and gold in 2013. In 2014, at Bvlgari’s India launch, Anamika showcased her collection. In 2016, Anamika showcased her jewellery collection at India Couture Week.

AK-OK is Anamika’s spring/summer collection. Keeping tradition and sensitivity in mind, Anamika’s spring/summer collection is unique and attractive. The clothes are open in nature and very free in space. The designs are very soft in color, and the cloth is lightweight.
The collection includes contrasting colours and stunning designs that swept the attention of people. Generally, the colors are light, black, and bling. This collection was worn during the Lakme Fashion Week 2015.
Anamika’s ethnic women’s wear collection was the unique and attractive collection that stunned the audience. The sense of masculinity brought another perspective to the feminism of clothing.
Anamika, being a fashion designer, designed so many outfits and costumes for the Bollywood industry. Her collections attracted so many celebrities, and they loved them. Many female celebrities, including Sonam Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Jacqueline Fernandez, wore their designed outfits to different events. Sonam Kapoor wore Anamika’s dresses at the Cannes red-carpet gala in 2013, Cannes 2014, and Cannes 2016. Sonakshi Sinha loved to wear Anamika’s creation, a lungi-styled skirt, at the IIFA awards. Not only these, but Deepika Padukone, Meera Rajput, and Alia Bhatt appreciated her designs.
